The Town of Burnett is located in north-central Dodge County. The beautiful Horicon Marsh occupies much of the eastern third of the Town. The City of Beaver Dam is located 2.5 miles to the southwest of the Town and the City of Waupun is about 5 miles north. The City of Fond du Lac is about 25 miles to the northeast. State Road 26 is the major north-south transportation route and County Roads E and B provide east-west routes through the Town. The Town of Burnett contains the unincorporated Villages of Burnett and Burnett Corners.

The 2000 Census population of Burnett is 919 people occupying 353 households.

History. The first white settlement in the Town of Burnett occurred in 1842 by a man with the name of Jewett. Others came to the Town shortly after, leading to the settlement of Burnett Corners around 1843. This community contained two churches, a store, and a blacksmith shop; the first post office was established in 1846.

In 1860, the community of Burnett Junction was settled following the completion of the railroad through the Town. By 1880, the Village contained one church, two general stores, two blacksmiths, two hotels, and a lumber yard.
